Beware the Image Peddler
Sadly, it is in wartime that we see our mass media at its worst, such as this latest story about Russian cosmonauts wearing Ukrainian colours on the space station. I'm sure it was by accident that this happened. And what are we supposed to get from that? Are we supposed to think that the cosmonauts are on our side against Putin just because of their yellow space suits? They're probably all MiG pilots, for Christ's sake. But we want to keep things peaceful up there in space, sure.

I try to judge people by their actions, not their appearance. One's actions tell us what one is truly like. But we humans still have certain biases left over from our vine swinging days which are not so rational. Apparently, we are quite helpless against these unconscious tendencies to pass judgement strictly based on appearance. Such a response is a dinosaur now, and should be extinct in our enlightened world, but it still provides a road to your mind that the mass media can exploit. They know what a powerful tool images can be in swaying the masses. That's why they seized upon that space suit and couldn't let go of it.

I must try to remember to shop for eyeglasses. I want the lightest ones, so they don't hurt my nose. Still, FDR didn't wear them, eh? You all have heard of FDR, the president with the dark circles under his eyes. Yes, that's all they say about him in the history books. Who cares about anything else.

On a continued note, pacifism is useless against advancing tanks. It is the absolute wrong response to the current threat. It might make you feel morally superior, but it is no way to face a fight. Tell me, do you think NATO should abandon its guns and go pacifist? Where would Germany be if NATO did that? Do you think Ukrainian troops should sing songs to the invaders or continue fighting them? That's right, we don't need hippies now, we need soldiers. And pacifism, by mitigating the war effort on our side, only strengthens the enemy. Orwell said the same to all those who wanted peace with Hitler in his time. He would have called any Western pacifism today 'inherently pro-Putin.' I direct you to a script I first shared in 2007 and, like most of my over one thousand comedy scripts, rewrote from scratch after I erased it. I don't know if it's a 'best past post' though: Lieutenant Gibbons.

Finally, to DW today, I'll never know how much of a great star Beyonce would have been, and how much money her sister would have to deposit in a black bank, according to your story, if she had not committed such a profitable fraud with that reject pop tune I wrote and erased from YouTube in January 2010 about Vancouver weather. She stole 'Under My Umbrella' after I erased it from YouTube. It's a damn shame if people like that get rich, don't you think? By the way, it's raining at this moment and I'll soon be off to work, but I wear a raincoat now.

It's the next day, after another full shift of the kind of honest work that taught me my life's lessons, which I poured into my music and writing that people got paid for who never worked an honest day in their lives. Not to pick on DW too much, hey Netflix! What's 'Goldmember' doing in your selection? I guess I must repeat that Goldmember is my title (in my lettering) for my James Bond parody, featuring three charcacters of my invention: Austin Powers, Me and Mini-Me. So, you media lost a couple of colleagues recently up on the front lines, I heard. Did it make you question how you live your lives in darkness? Are you still sure your fake reality is solid enough for you when the end could come at any time? What if you turned out to be wrong about dismissing the afterlife and divine justice? What if there is a God? He sure woudn't like the indecent assault you and your stars have committed against me all these years. Think of what a husk would be left of you if you were made to pay your spiritual debt to the world out of your soul - if you even have a soul. Boy, I sure couldn't relax if I were in your shoes.

Special Delivery

Special Delivery I have been following the war, mostly on DW News. Again, I stand firmly with Ukraine. I hope the Ukrainians can stop Putin in his tank tracks, not just for their own sake, but because Poland may be next otherwise. Poland is a NATO country, which would drag my country of Canada into the war, and I don't want to be in a war. Who would want that? We need to avoid that until the last possible moment. But, for what it's worth, I have given some thought to how we might slip those replacement Migs across the Poland-Ukraine border. I suggest we disassemble them and disguise the parts as cleaning equipment, perhaps industrial vacuum cleaners or something. Yes, I'm sure Kyiv could use a good vacuuming after all those artillery shells. I'll tell you something else, my gasoline consumption is zero. Putin never got a cent out of me, because I can walk to work in ten minutes. I don't mean to joke around too much through such sad and serious time...

Poetry Can Hurt

Poetry Can Hurt I've just heard about the Dr Seuss ban and it doesn't upset me at all. I don't read Dr Seuss anymore. As for racially insensitive imagery, if it upsets visible minorities, I give them the benefit of the doubt on it. I'm white, so my eye misses those kinds of details in children's books. But you can tell he ranked the 'whos' above other races. Remember that scene in the Grinch that Stole Christmas where they're all singing 'Gottes Sohn Ist Kommen' and one of the grown-ups picks up little Cindy Loo Who so she can adorn the portrait of the fuehrer with her wreath? Sorry, I know I shouldn't be joking around about it too much. Poetry ought not to hurt anyone. Oh, by the way, there were an awful lot of rhyming verses being broadcast to millions of people from 2007 to 2011, or so, that brought terrible harm to someone. That someone was me, their author.
