Putin Is a Threat
In the 1974 classic the Odessa File, a Holocaust survivor states that he bears no grudge against the German people: 'Peoples are not evil, only individuals are evil.' I couldn't agree more. And Vladimir Putin is evil.

We need to appreciate the threat posed by this man when he sends his forces marching west. This isn't some mere Middle Eastern thug, but a military giant. He is a man of physical actions, and only physical force will deter him. He is an ambitious successor to Josef Stalin - who once bemoaned how the Tsar Alexander's armies had made it all the way to Paris in the early 19th century against Napoleon while his Red Army couldn't get past East Germany. The further west, the better, apparently, for these guys.

I suppose war can be appealing in some ways. It gives a clear purpose. It unites the people. It produces heroes. Perhaps it's time to start thinking of war in a more positive way. Pacifism is out - unless it's Russian or aimed at Russians.

Putin is constantly accusing the Ukrainian government of being Nazis, but let us examine his actions of late. He spoke of purging 'traitors and scum' from the population. From whom did we hear that before? He held a massive rally in a stadium, in celebration of his military might. Remind you of anyone? At this grandiose event, he praised his 'special operation' in Ukraine. What was the Nazi euphimism for their final solution again? Right, 'special treatment.' I saw a child's toy amid the ruins of Mariupol tonight. So who's committing the genocide now?

On a more personal note, this is to whomever keeps putting prominent violators of my comedy and music in the selection rows of YouTube and Netflix: You asshole! Every time I have to see their ugly faces, my heart jumps. What are you trying to do to me? Just because the media liked their fraud profits more than my truth, am I to suffer for the rest of my life? I will have to detail the crimes of these assholes in a full video and use their offensive images against you and your sponsors if it keeps up. I'm talking aboout criminals like George Carlin -yuk, yuk- and the Rolling Stones. And why don't you look back on that Hendrix interview where he talks about how rock stars get lazy and fat? It would sure help explain why I had to waste over ten years of my life pulling my songs off the commercial radio. Mouse over to my Copyright Issues page under the 'Statements' link below. See all those big names? Are you trying to bury their filthy crimes in the fog of war now? If so, Putin is your ally. You may be more of an enemy than he is, hurting us with your lying broadcasts that pretend to help us.

As I avoided the U.S. media in my search for decent war news this afternoon, I stumbled on 'Caspian Report.' Not bad, but I think the reporter underestimates the seductive power of modern propaganda to impose Putin's will on the Ukrainian people if his war aims are successful. I see people betray themselves every day with the poison they were fed out of my music and writing during the US-Iraq War. They go ahead and let frauds on TV play them for suckers just because they find their fraud more appealing than the truth. Subjected to Putin's propaganda, Ukrainian nationalism could suffer the same fate as my beautiful songs. It would just be a matter of time and repetition and formula. The 'new Ukraine' would be glorified in their media to a new generation - one that would sooner turn to the propaganda on TV to shore up their national pride than face the humiliating truth of their country's capitulation. It's proven horribly effective.

Special Delivery

Special Delivery I have been following the war, mostly on DW News. Again, I stand firmly with Ukraine. I hope the Ukrainians can stop Putin in his tank tracks, not just for their own sake, but because Poland may be next otherwise. Poland is a NATO country, which would drag my country of Canada into the war, and I don't want to be in a war. Who would want that? We need to avoid that until the last possible moment. But, for what it's worth, I have given some thought to how we might slip those replacement Migs across the Poland-Ukraine border. I suggest we disassemble them and disguise the parts as cleaning equipment, perhaps industrial vacuum cleaners or something. Yes, I'm sure Kyiv could use a good vacuuming after all those artillery shells. I'll tell you something else, my gasoline consumption is zero. Putin never got a cent out of me, because I can walk to work in ten minutes. I don't mean to joke around too much through such sad and serious time...

Poetry Can Hurt

Poetry Can Hurt I've just heard about the Dr Seuss ban and it doesn't upset me at all. I don't read Dr Seuss anymore. As for racially insensitive imagery, if it upsets visible minorities, I give them the benefit of the doubt on it. I'm white, so my eye misses those kinds of details in children's books. But you can tell he ranked the 'whos' above other races. Remember that scene in the Grinch that Stole Christmas where they're all singing 'Gottes Sohn Ist Kommen' and one of the grown-ups picks up little Cindy Loo Who so she can adorn the portrait of the fuehrer with her wreath? Sorry, I know I shouldn't be joking around about it too much. Poetry ought not to hurt anyone. Oh, by the way, there were an awful lot of rhyming verses being broadcast to millions of people from 2007 to 2011, or so, that brought terrible harm to someone. That someone was me, their author.
